Day 17

We’re starting to develop a little rhythm to our routine. Sis is usually able to sleep in late in the mornings. She used to always be up and out the door by 6 AM. I’m always up earlier and go to Starbucks for coffee.

We’ve been working on some home improvement projects and have some furniture we need to get hauled off. I’ve been trying for a couple of days to get somebody to pick it up. Good Will isn’t interested in anything they have to pick up themselves. The United Way won’t even answer the phone. ARC and AMVET will only pick up something if it’s at the curb. The Salvation Army will pick it up. They’ll even come inside and carry it out, which is good because it’s a big dresser. But they refuse to tell me what time of day they’ll come by. They say they also have rules aginst calling ahead. I ask why and all they’ll say is, “It’s a rule.”

Radiation goes smoothly. Sis swears that the color of today’s radiation is white. Yeah ...right.

After radiation we meet with doctor Weitz. He’s a great guy with a lot of fabulous ideas about how I can make more creative cuisine out of dirt. I’m gonna really be able to spice up my raw veggie platter!

They say Sis will be losing her hair in a couple of weeks. She may, or she may not. I’ve been praying for her treatments to have no ill side-effects. If it does happen to fall out I plan to shave my head also. I’ve told her this and I don’t think she believes me. I think it will be interesting to see if she goes for a wig or not. I’ve always kidded her about having hair that looked almost like actual human hair ...

and now we’ll get to see just what that actual hair color is.
