| Day 25/26 The days are clicking along now with less drama. Sis has done quite well tolerating the radiation treatments. When they started we were told that she should pace herself in order to keep from becoming fatigued. It sounded like overdoing it could lay her up for a couple of days if she didn’t watch it. She hasn’t been running at her usual warp speed, but she’s been able to keep a pretty good pace going throughout the day. Today we noticed for the first time her hair is beginning to fall out. She has also developed a vivid “glow” from the neck up. In order to make it comfortable enough for her to sleep I got her an oscillating fan to keep on the night stand on her side of the bed. It’s working pretty good. She hasn’t had to fling all the covers off in the middle of the night since we got the fan, but it does get a little “nippy”. With all the hair flying around and being able to see my breath in July things are getting more interesting every day. Today I got to talk to one of the doc’s doing Sis’ radiation. I asked him if we really needed all that fancy-schmancy radiation hi-tech stuff or if we could’ve achieved similar results if she just stuck her headin the micro wave and put it on the popcorn setting. He said it would work about the same, except we wouldn’t be able to get all of her hair to fall out like they did. As I crawl under the covers I’m thinking to myself, “I guess it’s time to shave my head.” <back |
