| Update 11 (Sis) My hair . . . continues to make an appearance. It is red, orange (this no doubt from years of zapping with chemicals the payback), black, and white. You couldn’t ask for better color on say…. a pit bull. I was determined to let it be whatever color makes a breakthrough. I’m not sure now. Renee, I’ll call you as soon as it is a little longer……… I have been driving around some these days. When I first had radiation to my head everything was shifting to the left as I drove. I still made it fine (for the most part), but J took my license away. Why do they have to put those mailboxes so close to the road? I now have been issued a learners permit by J and can drive around the area if I have a fully licensed adult with me. Not to be concerned, I feel a breakthrough coming on. J and I have some habits we probably need to stop. You don’t realize that patterns are forming until the drive-thru girl at Wendy’s says, “You are late today”. Or you call Jonathan’s for a to go and all they ask is “ Your usual?” I am planning on a change in wardrobe. I used to wear sweats most everyday. We call them my treatment clothes. Lately I have been wearing jeans and my SunTrust sweatshirt. This is really comfortable, but I am going to need to buy more sweatshirts because J says 3 weeks at a time is just too long to wear one article of clothing (and that’s no reflection on his ability to do the laundry)å. Today is Wednesday . . . my clinic day. Here’s what happens on Wednesday: I go directly to the “Fabulous” Victoria, Queen of the drawn blood. She sends it to the lab stat (in a hurry) to make sure I have all the elements needed in the right proportions. We usually wait for the results in the infusion area waiting room. If I am low I have to be infused. I have been infused every Wednesday……….EXCEPT TODAY! Hooray! I must say, the morning started off a little “iffy”. No vein was working; literally…Victoria put the needle in three different veins. No blood was showing itself, until she pulled the needle out, then blood was everywhere! We called for reinforcements and finally between the 4 of us we were able to get enough blood. I was standing on my head (well, maybe not standing on my head, but close!) Then we waited. It takes an hour or two to get results. Today, Dory came running into the waiting room yelling and waiving a printout. “ You are at the limit and do not need an infusion of anything!” Other nurses followed her and it was a hug fest. These folks like Dory, Victoria, and Norma are definitely called of God to help others. I am thankful they are in my life. That printout is now gloriously displayed on my refrigerator door at home. J and I have been believeing and thanking God for the full measure of elements in my blood for a number of weeks now. This is the manifestation of that. Hebrews 10:35 says, God is so powerful! His mercy endures forever. (Psalm 136) Sandy 1 Peter 2:24 |
