Update 17—August 3(Sis)

I had a case of dehydration that landed me in the hospital for a few days.

I am out today and feel pretty good. This is the longest I have ever spent in a care facility. In my case some really Great news came to the front even though…….

Sunday afternoon I started feeling really nauseated and quickly became dehydrated. I then blacked out. Well, this bought me a trip to Vanderbilt.  J and I made it on our own. I was determined to walk in there and walk out. It just took a little longer to walk out than I estimated.

I walked into the ER and the nurse handed me a mask to put on. She said everything going on in the germ world was in that waiting room. I was wearing my Marvin the Martian hat, sunglasses, and a LARGE BLUE MASK. I was wrapped in a blanket that J had talked the nurse into getting for me (it’s always a little chilly). Even though I could barely hold my head up when J helped me to the car I had the presence of mind to grab my lipstick tube. No reason to ignore fashion or color. I looked like Barney Fife disguised as Charlene Darling when she was running from Ernest T. Bass. It was kinda funny. Wish I had taken a picture, but I was trying hard not to throw up on all of them. That would have been a sight. Once I sat down everybody cleared the area. Needless to say, I was taken back pretty quickly.

We spent from early afternoon until midnight with Doc Hart. He ordered a plethora of tests. He explained that because of my history (brain lesions) I would have to have a brain MRI. He said my symptoms were consistent with an increase of tumor activity in the brain. When they do the MRI they stick you in one of those long tube thingys. It takes 37.5 minutes if you are still. The key is keeping your eyes closed. You have to listen and do what the machine says. It took me a little longer as I was singing “The Old Rugged Cross” as loud as I could and missed a few prompts.

In the early evening J and I got transferred from the ER to a hospital room. After a few hours Dr. Hart showed up to tell us the results of the brain MRI. He explained the process of comparing the four lesions from last year’s scan to the new scan. He said that they couldn’t find three of them, and thought they could maybe see one of them. We did some shouting and hollerin’ about that. Dr. Hart and the nurses celebrated with us until midnight. J and I barely slept that night from the excitement.

Today we had our regular appointment with Dr. Johnson and he proclaimed my brain to be, “absolutely normal”.

PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

The next day Marshall and Chris came to the hospital after J called friends and family. They are the absolute ultimate! Thanks for the article and song Marshall.  I’ve got to tell you…..Marshall Chapman has written songs and a book (Goodbye Little Rock and Roller) that you will never get tired of, or quit reading.

Her inspiration comes from her life experiences and most interesting background.

By the way….

while I was in the hospital two new habits have developed:

I crave orange sherbet constantly.

There is no Jello like Black Cherry (you can melt cheese on it)………Gotcha!

So you may be asking what was wrong that caused the trip to Vandy.

We are working through that one. I have another med I am taking. It seems to be working so far. The experimental study meds I am taking are really uncharted. I have now been taking it longer than anyone in Nashville. I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring this drug to others. Norma, my FAB Nurse will often let me talk to newbie’s about the study.

Thank you for your prayers,

JESUS is LORD!
