Update 5 (J)
Last night we had some excitement.
Yesterday was treatment day. It went quite smoothly and even with a late start we were home by 5.
Sis is always a little "wobbly" for a few days right after chemo.
The chemo drugs themselves seem to cause dizziness, and she's given "pre-meds" that make her drowsy. One of the chemo drugs also has alcohol as an ingredient, so I'm usually watching her like a hawk to make sure she doesn't fall down. Even with all the diligence I can muster she's taken a couple of tumbles. I'm probably a bit overprotective, and Sis finds it a bit annoying, being the fiercely independent woman she is. I'm always urging her (she might say nagging) to let me help her.
During the night when Sis needed to get up to go the bathroom I jumped up to make sure she was steady on her feet. I rushed around the bed to help her and I went skittering, and stumbling, and ended up sprawled out in the floor at the foot of the bed! In my mind I kept seeing Ralphie in "The Christmas Story" saying, "Oh no, I shot my eye out ... I shot my out!."
BIG NEWS
Yesterday we saw the results of Sis' latest scan. We might as well have been looking at gravy stains on last night's tablecloth for all I know about it. Doctor Johnson kept going back and forth between various images, comparing them, and told us that the tumors are continuing to show "significant shrinkage", and that the treatment was still having a major impact. He showed us the spots on the liver. The largest of the two appears to be gone or nearly so, and the other is "significantly shrunk".
This is fabulous news!
It's Thanksgiving today.
