Update 8 (J)

It's been six weeks since Sis' last chemo infusion.

Every day I see signs of improvement. It's little stuff. She doesn't struggle as much to get up out of a chair. Her step is more sure when she walks. She's beginning to be interested in food again. Her voice is stronger. She's becoming more "fashion conscious". Little stuff.

The doctors say it will probably take six months for her to feel half as good as she used to. We believe it will be quicker than that.

Yesterday we saw the latest scans.

They were absolutely glorious! It's always good when a whole team of doctors and nurses walk in smiling. They were beaming.

Doctor Johnson began showing us comparisons of the latest scans to the scans of where we started. The differences are dramatic. Tumors that were once massive are just little blips on the radar screen. The best part is that they are all still shrinking!

Glory to God!

Doctor Johnson said the treatment continues to work, and that the tumors continue to "show shrinkage". I asked him if that meant they weren't growing or if they were still actually shrinking. He confirmed that they were still shrinking.

We asked him about treatment goals. I guess this is actually the first time we've had a conversation with a doctor along these lines since we heard the phrase, "six to eight weeks if left untreated". "Doc" Johnson said he was looking for a situation where the tumors stabilize, and the body is allowed to heal itself, which he says it's very good at doing. He said that they do see tumors simply disappear.

I believe that.

Their focus right now is to make sure that Sis feels as great as her scans look.

He also said that he didn't believe there were any "impossible" situations.

That's why God led us to him.
